Description: Art with Daryl
Daryl homeschooled her 6 now grown children and is now studying to be an art teacher at Concordia. She is doing her practicum at Communidée.
Lessons will be based on 8 visual elements:
Line (perspective, contour) - Jan 16 - relief sculpture and printmaking using string, paper and puzzle pieces
Colour / Hue (mixing colours) - Jan 23
Form (3-D, shadows, dark, light) - Jan 30
Tone / Value (value of a grey scale 1-5) - Feb 6
Texture (using cloth, cardboard, and other objects) - Feb 13
Shape (polygons, trapezoids, 2-D) - Feb 20
Pattern (symmetry, asymmetry - Feb 27
Space (atmosphere, middle ground, foreground, near/far) - March 12
These elements are like ingredients in a recipe. When the right balance is created, there is a pleasing result. I plan to introduce the children to artists of the past and present who might serve as models. Exploring one or more of these elements and refining them can produce the visual effects identified in the most powerful and popular masterpieces.
Open to all ages, geared towards children aged 4 to 14 years
Cost included in Communidée fees
