I will be moving to Montreal from the US for 6 months, January through June, 2012, and plan to homeschool my 7 yr old son during this time. I've searched the immigration website and am having trouble finding out whether or not I need to get a Study Permit or a Certificate de Acceptance (CAQ) for him. Can anyone help? Thanks,Eric Miller, chaisngmoose@gmail.com
Study permit
You only need a CAQ and study permit for kids who are doing post-secondary education. All your son needs is a visitor's permit. If you were planning on sending him to an English-medium school, you'd need a certificate of eligibility to be educated in English, but the school would organize that for you. If you're homeschooling him, you don't need a certificate of eligibility.
thank you
Thanks, Rina!
