Wednesday July 14th, at 11am.
Everyone is welcome to join us on a field trip to a Hydro Quebec power dam in Carillon - about an hour west of Montreal.
We will have a 75 minute guided tour of the Carillon Generating Station. The tour will be in English with questions answered in either language. All ages are welcome, but the tour will be geared towards the 4-10's. It is free : )
Each person over 18 must bring a photo ID card - driver's license, medicare, passport - or they won't be allowed inside the power plant. Security reasons...
All bags, including purses, back packs, and lunch boxes, as well as cameras and cell phones, are strictly forbidden. Strollers are also forbidden inside the generating station. They recommend that we all wear closed and flat shoes.
Finally, no pacemakers. (I don't know why...)
The powerstation is located at : 240 du Barrage, Carillon (St-André-d'Argenteuil), J0V 1C0. See map below.
It's inside Parc Carillon. You just have to follow the signs for the power station. At the gate, you are going to see a phone. Pick-up and the guide will answer you directly. Tell them you are with the homeschooling group.
We can discuss a few options for the afternoon: there are a few beaches at nearby Voyageur Park (with parking fees $10-18 per car), there are some open green spaces to hang out and play in, there is a ferry crossing the Ottawa river, and a museum.
Please use the sign up feature below or contact Sonya at (514) 845-5421.

Can I bring someone?
Want to come!! Sounds very awesome! I am still working at the time (planning curriculum etc. for next year) but I am hoping I could combine activities... Can I bring a (adult) friend?
