Hi Everybody.
I'm looking to organize a small group for learning more about computer programming in a fun and creative environment. My son is 9 and would spend all his time on the computer if I let him, so I would like to channel that interest into something educational and constructive.
The computer programming language used as an introduction would be Logo and the subjects would be ranging from basic turtle operations (a kind of computer controlled pen) to full blown programming of games / programs, based on interest and skill.
Suggestions for other subjects are welcome.
WITH WHOM?
-------------
Jean-François Montpetit is a professional software developer with 10+ years of experience. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Sherbrooke in software engineering. He has programmed extensively, led software product development teams as well as hired and trained many new software engineer recruits. He was extensively involved in the co-op programs of several software engineering universities. He has a passion for programming and technology at large, and his first
programming language was Logo which he believes is an invaluable tool for teaching basic software development and computer theory while having fun.
WHERE AND WHEN?
-------------
The classes would take place in Ste. Anne-de-Bellevue, probably on Thursday or Friday mornings. Individual computers are available on site for use during lessons.
FOR WHOM?
-------------
The group would ideally comprise of 3-4 students. Age is less of a factor than interest. Basic computer knowledge and access to a computer at home would be helpful.
HOW MUCH?
-------------
The cost is $25 per student per lesson (1 hour) for up to 3 students and $20 per student for 4 students. $10 for an additional 30 minutes.
