Halloween party preparations - last details

For Thursday's party we are expecting 15 to 20 adults and 30 to 40 kids!

Here are the last minute details on who will bring what and how it might all go:

The potluck:  Several people have suggested that we each bring our own suppers instead of having a potluck.  It does make things simpler in terms of allergies, dishes, and the transportation of dishes and food.  So here is a compromise: how about if we each bring our own suppers, and a few of us also bring some things to share?  If you are not signed up to bring anything else, please consider bringing something to share (like cupcakes, cookies, apples, drinks, etc.)

drinks - Sonya
pumpkin pie - Beth
chips - Kim

plastic dishes, utensils, cups - Josee & Kim
napkins, paper towels - Sonya, Sophie
table cloths - Beth, Angie

The pinata:  We were finally able to get into the locked closet and retrieve our pinatas!  Beth and Layla and their kids have been working on them and they will be ready for Thursday : )  We already have enough goodies to put inside, including dried fruit, stickers and tattoos.

string - Sonya
stick - Christine, Sonya
masking tape - Beth
dried fruit - Ana, Sonia
toys - Kim

Pumpkin carving:  Each family who wants to carve a pumpkin should bring their own pumpkin, knife, spoon or scoop for emptying it out, and a smock or change of clothes for the kids : )  And please be prepared to take your pumpkin home or find it a suitable home...

can't bring a pumpkin - Jody, Ana, Sonya
can bring an extra one - Christine, Beth, Kim, Sonia
plastic bags & newspaper - Layla
candles & matches - Beth

The decorations:  We were able to make several decorations during our last two gatherings, and all of them are already at the Centre.  Some of us have or have made other decorations at home, which we are welcome to bring along...

balloons - Sophie, Angie
streamers - Beth
masking tape - Beth
string - Sonya

Other:  Everyone should bring their own costumes, music CD's, flashlights, and other scary or fun stuff!

CD player - Kim

Clean up:  So far only Josee and Ana have volunteered to stay to the end to clean up.  We have to be cleaned up and out by 8pm.  Any families who don't have to rush the kids off to bed are encouraged to help out with the cleaning : )

Any other suggestions or things I am missing?  Please use the comments to speak to everyone...

To summarize:  Each family should bring their own supper, a pumpkin and knife, costumes, and other miscellaneous stuff like music CD's, games, flashlights, etc, as well as whatever you have signed up to bring!

A rough schedule for the evening:

3:00 - 4:30pm - pumpkin carving and putting up decorations & pinatas
4:30 - 5:30pm - supper / snacks, putting on costumes
5:30 - 6:00pm - circus
6:00 - 7:30pm - party!  pinatas, pin the arm on the skeleton, dancing, eating, etc
7:30 - 8:00pm - clean up

Thanks Sonya and all for the good planning!

OK, my part: (adressed to Kim in particular! )

for the plastic plates, I'm bringing 20 (+-), rewashable solid plastic plates, just because it is less fragile, and also easily cleaned up. It won't be enough for the entire gang though!
All the rest can be taken from the Baha'i Center, and washed after. I'm not sure if they have glasses, but they have plenty of cups; aswell as all the utensils (spoons, etc). Maybe parents who have young children won't mind bringing their own plastic glass/cup and kiddie plate for their kid.
So we don't have to spend money on throw-away plastic things. Is that OK?
