hello hello hello!!!
Hello Everyone!
I'm very pleased to be here on this site getting a sense of the community and the wonderful things that are happening.
We are a family of with three little ones... woah...and kind of over our heads.
We are out in the west island and none of the educational options that are available to us are in the least bit acceptable.
So it's kind of a dream and it's totaly scary, homeschooling!
I'm am feeling quite intimitated I must say though. I need some encouragement and some friends who know or at least think they know what they are doing. We are feeling alone in the world right now. It's tough.
Looks like there is a great community in montreal, but is there a group in the West Island? We are all the way out on st-charles and Pierrefonds
Anyone?

I think it is funny that you seem to have trouble finding homeschool connections on the west island...when i started homeschooling my 2 kids 2 1/2 years ago i could only find things/ support groups/activities in the west ialand! I could find nothing in Montreal! Do you already know about swim and gym for homeschoolers at the Pte. Claire Aquatic Centre? I met many homeschooling families there, most on the west island. They have classes 4 kids as young as 4 years old, i believe. There is a church in Pierrefonds that has an active homeschool group... if you are interested, i could try to find out the contact info. There was free gym every Friday...that was also on the west island...bring along some board games, your kids, and meet some other parents, informal kind of thing...the contact number for that i got off of Trixie's group, perhaps someone else can fill in the blanks as to how to contact the people who run the free gym. I know these things are vague, but if anything strikes you as interesting i would make the effort to find out the details for you. That is what comes to mind right now.

You mentioned Trixies's group? Who or what is Trixie? Is it someone on this website?

All the groups that I know of are listed under Resources->Groups and Organizations.
You can also browse through the members' section of this site and look for other West Islanders - there are a few. To contact another member, just click on their picture and then on 'contact'.
And of course feel free to come to the city and join us for an activity any time...

Hi Albert,
This group had its first meeting in October 2007, and this site was up in January 2008. We have over 100 members already and we're growing all the time! I hope our pooled knowledge and experience will become a great asset for us and future homeschoolers : )
