Help me welcome visiting HS family from US, June 14-25(ish)

Hi All,

I’ve recently “met” a US-based homeschooling family on a discussion list I’m on. They will be in Montreal (in a hotel with their three cats!) around June 14 -25. They were here off and on through the winter (before I “met” them), and their daughter (14) had such a miserable time that they almost couldn’t convince her to come back (they’re here for the dad’s work).

They don’t know a soul and don’t speak any French, so the daughter was feeling lonely and isolated.

I’ve promised them I would see what I could do about arranging an outing or two. My own HS son is only 10 and my two teen girls are still in the middle of exams at school…and not being homeschoolers they would have less in common to start with...

I look forward to meeting the mom and daughter and would love to have others join us, ideally with teens!

This group has some interesting things going on then (as usual ) but I would love to know if there will be some teens or at least pre-teens in any of the groups. Anybody?

The daughter's interests are art and marine biology – any like-minded teens out there?

I’m considering the Redpath Museum and will also try to find out whether the Ile Bizard nature conservation area has any tours for teens as opposed to just the younger set.

Does anybody have any other suggestions for outings?

Would you like to join us?

I would love to show the family that Montreal is actually a very welcoming place BUT I NEED YOUR HELP TO DO IT!

Thanks in advance – I know I can count on you!
