As a frequent peruser of the interweb, I often come across sites or articles that really excite me as a future homeschooling dad. Because I'm a big nerd, these mostly have something to do with science or technology. I've thought about posting these to this website, but I hesitate to spam this place with too many non-Montreal-related items (and I'm not sure how much interest there is in these topics among the group).
Rather than just let these things clog up my bookmarks menu, I've decided to share them through a new blog: HomeSchool 2.0. It's still a work in progress, but a quick visit to the site should give you an idea about the ground it hopes to cover. In addition to online learning resources (courses, podcasts, etc), the main focus will be on software and hands-on projects that have the potential to get kids excited about science and technology. Anyways, I hope you'll check it out. If you have any comments or feedback, please let me know (keeping in mind that it is still a work in progress).
Cheers!
Doug.

Just in time!
Doug, I haven't even clicked over yet, but my initial reaction is THANKS!! My soon-to-be-six-year-old is a total budding science/technology geek. How the world works (science) and how machines work (technology) get him totally fired up, which gets me fired up as a new homeschool "teacher." So any place I could go that has resources geared specifically to these topics will be a HUGE help to me so that I don't have to spend hours on the web each night searching for understandable and interesting info for him on the current topic of interest (right now it's electricity).
Would it be a help to you as you start gathering this info to receive links when I DO come across science/technology resources in my own searches?
Thanks for doing this, Doug, and thanks for letting us know.
Kim
re: Just in time
Thanks for the encouragement, Kim. Sure, I'd be happy for you (and anyone else) to send links my way to include in the blog. Please use the blog contact address (doug@homeschool2.net) for that. Just so you know (and aren't offended in case I don't post your link), I'm trying to avoid the blog becoming another "link dump" for science resources on the web... My goal is to focus on those projects/resources/stories/etc that are perhaps a bit unusual and have real potential for learning and creativity. That said, the more links I have to choose from, the more I'm sure will be well worth posting!
Doug.
