We are ready to launch the 2010 BRFC youth rugby program. Last year's program was a amazing success and we very much look forward to building on that. There has been a lot of planning behind the scenes and we are extremely excited about the 2010 season.

Inter-squad development games (new this year)
Sunday morning practices are eliminated and replaced with 4 Black vs Red BRFC Saturday games in the spring/summer session. These inter-squad games with be games that focus on teaching & rugby development. They will take place at BHS between 11.30am and 1.30pm. We will have Black crested game jerseys that match the Red game jerseys for the players to wear. These inter-squad games will definitely feel like real games for the players! The dates will be released in about a month.
Rugby Jamborees/tournaments
Jamborees will also attended by our players -- rounding out the games for the program. The kids want games -- and so we are going to give them games. The summer Jamboree dates are already set: June 13 at St-Annes and July 18 at Twin Elms National Rugby Fields.

Recruiting new players:
Please pass on the word. We are looking to grow the program and all new members are welcome. Pass along this email, and the 2010 BRFC Youth Rugby Flyer to anyone interested in rugby. Pass on the info to friends on your soccer, hockey, football, or track teams.

The spirit of the program:

The program is 100% inclusive welcoming all new participants
It is a "development" program designed to introduce & teach rugby skills in a fun and challenging environment
Exhibition games are development in nature

Rugby Jersey's and what to bring:
All new BRFC youth players receive there own rugby gear (team socks, shorts and crested rugby jersey). This is theirs to keep. Our expectation is that the gear should last each player about 2 seasons (so returning players get new gear next year). The only thing that a player needs is a pair of cleats and a mouth guard.

Cost of the program:
We run the program to break-even. The enrollment fees reflect the costs of running a rugby program (Rugby Canada player association fees, insurance, field costs, jerseys, balls, hitting bags etc). Last year's enrollment fees were lower due to the very generous financial support from our BRFC Alumni who wanted to help kick start the program.

What's new at Beaconsfield Rugby Football Club:

A new woman's senior & U18 program was launched in the fall of 2009. A huge success. Stephen Kapland a very seasoned coach is working with that group.
There are rugby programs at BRFC for boys and girls of all age categories (U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 and senior men & women)
New informative web site: www.brfc.ca

How to register for the youth program:

Two registration sessions (April 11 & April 18 -- each day is 4.00 to 6.00pm)
Beaconsfield Recreation Center
Existing members can simply drop off their completed registration forms.
New members/players will be fitted for their rugby shorts & jerseys (takes 5 min)

If you were here last year and for what ever reason will not be unable to attend this year's program, please let us know -- as we need to get a good handle on our numbers for planning purposes.
All the Lions coaches are very excited and really looking forward to working with the youth players in the 2010 season. It should be great. Pass on the word.
We are looking forward to seeing you all soon.
