NFB workshops

The NFB offers some really cool two-hour workshops at the CineRobotheque downtown - including video production, animation and claymation!  Some are for ages 7+, some are for 9+ or 13+, and the cost is only $6.50 per person!

They will create a workshop just for homeschoolers if we have at least 20 people attending.

Feel free to leave a comment about which workshops most appeal to you and your kids, and what time (morning or afternoon) and days might work best, and we'll see if something materializes!

(My kids are too young for this stuff, but I'd be into the claymation one! - Tuesdays, Fridays, or weekends : )

Hi Sonya, My kids are game!

Hi Sonya,
My kids are game! Monday afternoons, Friday afternoons (but then, what about the new ballet?!...but then again, it would be a once in a while thing), or later Friday p.m., perhaps, right after ballet. Tuesdays and Thursdays do not work for us. We'll wait to hear more!

I think some of my children

I think some of my children would be interested in this. Not mornings but afternoons are great. Tuesday and Friday are both good for us but not week ends.

We have done the claymation workshop and it is fantastic.
In my opinion it is suitable for the younger ones as well as you end up working in small groups to produce a short animation. All ages can participate by creating a clay figure to star in the animation and the older children can work with the camera man to film the end product. While you are waiting for your turn to film(and it did seem long at times) there are lots of movies to keep everyone entertained in the cineroboteque. There is also La Brulerie across the street!!
I would be interested in the other workshops with recycled objects and sand...keep me posted.

NFB Workshops

I saw several in the list that I know Meaghan would love! Suzie would be in for the claymation as well. Other than Thursday AM and Tues-Thurs evenings, we are pretty open at the moment. Late afternoons preferred :)

I noticed that the fee is $12 for two workshops, in case some folks are looking at the possibility of attending 2 (or several) of the workshops. I know I saw at least a handful that looked promising, including a second language learning one that uses film to promote learning of French (or English, as the case may be.)

Cheers!

me too!

claymation would be totally cool, i know tuesday would love it. She is only 5 1/2 but i'm sure she could hang. I'd be willing to leave the room if she got ants in her pants.. let me know we would be permitted!

re: NFB workshops

My two boys (and I!) and I are interested in all of the workshops, but we're happy to start out with claymation. We're fine with any of the days mentioned.
Thanks, Sonya!
