Pacifest 2008 (International Day of Peace)

When my kids were in their first year of public school the principal instituted a Peace Month throughout November, with special activities leading up to Remembrance Day and follow-up continuing through the end of the month. The kids were very receptive to the concept, at all ages. I thought perhaps some of the homeschooled kids might similarly enjoy participating in the Pacifest, which is taking place this coming Sunday at the Tam-Tams.

The first scheduled event is 9:30, whereas the Tam-Tams usually don't get going until noon or later. So you'll want to check the schedule to avoid missing the things you'd like to attend! There will be yoga for peace, an arts & crafts workshop for kids of all ages, kids' drumming workshop, and an official speech given by Mayor Gerald Tremblay in honour of the day. I think the rest of the day will be Tam-Tams as usual (drumming - anyone can join in or dance!)

I don't know how many of the activities will include English but if it's mainly in French, this would be a good opportunity for our kids to practice their second language! :)
