What: "Portable Murals" - an exploration of mural collage techniques.  The objective is to acquaint and familiarize children aged 7 and older with mixed-media leading to the creation of large scale artworks (approx. 2 meters by 1 1/2 meters).  Using an overhead projector, flashlights and other light-making devices along with traditional and improvised art materials, we will create abstract/expressionistic works quite impulsively and instinctively.  We will work both standing up as well as sitting.  This activity will last up to 100 minutes.  Participants may leave and return as desired.

When: two Fridays in a row: Sept 25 & Oct 2

Age range: seven and older...although younger ones can contribute with the assistance of parents

Parent participation: yes

On a scale of 1 (structured) to 5 (unstructured): 3... a little structured/ animated and a little kid-driven

Signing up: not necessary

Requirements: bring anything that you want to create and contribute to the mural...2 & 3 dimensional objects (must be able to be attached somehow to the canvas... your choice of adhesive).  Feel free to bring any other non-toxic art materials you wish to use and share with others.  Wear clothes you do not mind getting stained or soiled or ruined.  Bring a flashlight or other light making device.
