St-Michel Environmental Complex

08/10/2009 - 13:30
08/10/2009 - 15:00
Monday August 10th, from 1:30 to 3pm at 2345 Jarry Est (near Iberville).

We have organized a guided tour of the St-Michel Environmental Complex especially for homeschoolers, including a tour of the quarry on a school bus!  We will also learn about the green building TOHU, and visit a working recycling sorting centre!

The tour is free for Montreal residents showing a utility bill. For people living outside of Montreal, it costs $6 for adults and $4 for kids over 7 years.

The bilingual tour is recommended for ages 8 and up, but they welcome kids and babies of all ages.  Here are synopses for ages 8-12 and 13 and up (in French), which are made to be looked at before the visit : )

Please sign up below or by contacting Sonya (514) 845-5421 before Monday August 3rd.

Getting there:

By school bus: the tour includes getting picked up in a school bus!  It's free : ) Meet in Carré St-Louis (metro Sherbrooke) a bit before 1pm.  See map below.  The bus leaves for the St-Michel Environmental Complex at 1pm sharp!  The same bus will be used for the outside part of the tour.  They will drive us back to Carré St-Louis afterwards, arriving around 3:30pm.

Public transit: if you don't want to get off at Sherbrooke metro and take the school bus there, then take bus 193 East from Jarry metro, or bus 94 North from Iberville metro.  Meet at the TOHU Ticket Counter / Billeterie a bit before 1:30pm.  See map below.

By car: if you can't park near Sherbrooke metro and take the school bus, then it's probably easier just to drive directly to the St-Michel Environmental Complex.  From the 40 East, exit 74 Iberville.  From the 40 West, exit 75 St-Michel.  There is a large pay-parking area.  Meet at the TOHU Ticket Counter / Billeterie a bit before 1:30pm.  See map below.

Younger Kids?

Sonya,

Is this something that would be suitable for kids under 7? Katy will be 5 then. There's also Hughie, who has done walking type tours before (e.g. the EcoMuseum) and loves to travel by bus. Let me know what you think.

If all the kids are coming, we'll be two adults & 4 kids (all under 12.) Otherwise 2 kids, 1-2 adults (depends if I get a babysitter.)

I've left my new phone number, and the email is the same as always. I'm off to read the synopsis.....

Cheers!
Ruby
