All homeschoolers are welcome to join us at the Sucrerie de la Montagne on Rigaud mountain for some springtime sugaring-off fun! Here are pictures from our visit in 2010 (you have to be logged on). Please sign up before March 21.
Wednesday March 28, from 11am. We will start with a horse-drawn sleigh ride and a guided tour of the sugar shack, including information about how maple syrup is made.
At 12pm we will sit down to a midday sugaring-off meal: country-style sausages, farm-style crusty bread, wood-fired baked beans, farm-style soufflée omelette, old-style mashed potatoes, Québécois maple-glazed ham, pancakes with maple syrup, and a glass of milk. (The group voted for the smaller meal this year, which is the meal described above.)
Then some singing and dancing to the accompaniment of traditional music played by their energetic musicians.
And finally, maple-taffy-on-snow tasting!
Cost: under 2 years - free
3 to 6 years - $9 plus taxes
7 to 12 years - $15 plus taxes
over 13 years - $20 plus taxes
Each family can pay for their own meals directly to the Sucrerie. Cash or Visa.
It is about an hour drive West of Montreal - Google map here. Let me know if you need a ride we'll try to arrange a carpool...
