Suggestions for books about homelearning and related topics...

At Jarry park on Thursday, everyone seemed to have a title or two to share... so I thought we can all add our various suggestions through this forum topic, and I'll build a page to summarize the discussion under "Resources".
i must absolutely suggest the secret of childhood, and the absorbant mind (regarding ages 0-6 but it's never too late to read it) by maria montessori. She brings the child to such a noble station, describing the blueprint for intelligence naturally unfolding itself, to which we are guides.
another book i could suggest is the unschooling handbook by mary griffith. it was a valuable read for me.
I'm assuming the John Holt and John Taylor Gatto books are too obvious for this list, so I'll include something different.
1. "Our Babies, Ourselves: How Biology and Culture Shape the way we Parent" by Meredith Small (not so much about homeschooling, more about parenting during infancy and childhood....a very interesting and well-researched read!)
2. "The Creative Family: How to Encourage Creativity and Nurture Family Connections" by Amanda Soule (she's an unschooler of 3 and has a fantastic blog: www.soulemama.typepad.com)
I know I'll think of others later. I'll have to post again in a couple of days.
Can we also start a list of good kids novels? Now that Noah's old enough and can't get enough of them, I've always got my ears perked for recommendations.
Do youguys know uptoten.com? It's full of games and short songs and dialogues, *and* it's fully bilingual (French and English.) We especially like the Boowa and Kwala section (It's huge!) You can access it for free , or you can subscribe to get even more content and no adds.
