Thursday gathering

03/19/2009 - 11:00
03/19/2009 - 15:00

All homeschooling families are welcome to join us to eat, talk, play, make plans and do projects together. There are French and English families, kids and babies of all ages, and all styles of homeschooling. While religious families are welcome to join us, our gatherings are entirely secular.

In the summer we go to different parks throughout the city. In the cold months, we have found a space at the Baha'i Centre -> 177 des Pins Est.

The Baha'i Centre:

We have the room from 11am to 3pm. We usually just play, talk and eat, and people come and go over the course of the four hours. There have been a few planned activities so far including a science experiment, cooking, arts and crafts, singing, theatre, and storytelling. And a few parties. Everyone is welcome to offer an activity.

The room is on the ground floor (easily accessible to strollers), with a stage, a piano, and a screen with DVD player. There are tables and chairs, and a little kitchen with possibilities for tea and coffee, and a sink for clean ups. We have toys, dress ups, and arts and crafts materials. And if the weather is particularly nice, or if things start getting too rowdy, DeBullion park is just a half block away.

Getting there: (see map below) - 177 des Pins Est.

Public transit: It's about a 10 minute walk from Sherbrooke metro (orange line), or you can jump on the bus #144 West along des Pins. If you are on the green line, it is also walkable from St-Laurent metro, or you can jump on the bus #55 North up St-Laurent.

Driving: Parking in the area isn't too bad. By the time we get there, the street cleaners have already passed, and some areas reserved for permit holders are open to everyone until 3pm.

Hope to see you there!
