My daughter, Kelly, would like to start a book club. Our idea is that books will be in the 9 to 12-year-old age range, but that anyone who reads (or has the book read to them) is welcome to attend regardless of age. The book club will meet once a month for discussion and snacks. Each member will have a turn to choose a book for the group to read.
We are still settling on a meeting time and place. We could meet at Communidee or we could take turns meeting at a location to be determined by the member who's book we have read that month. Please let me know your preference on location and time. We are planning on the first meeting being at the end of March.
Kelly has chosen the first book, "Wolves of the Beyond - Lone Wolf" by Kathryn Lasky. Here's a bit about it:
"In the harsh wilderness beyond the owl world of Ga'Hoole, a wolf mother hides in fear. Her newborn pup, otherwise healthy, has a twisted paw. The mother knows the rigid rules of her kind. The pack cannot have weakness. Her pup must be abandoned on an icy riverbank - condemned to die.
But alone in the forest, the pup, Faolan, does the unthinkable. He survives. This is Faolan's story, the story of a courageous wolf pup who rises up to change forever the wolves of the Beyond."
