Geordie play: Andersen's Inkwell

05/06/2010 - 12:00
05/06/2010 - 13:30

All homeschoolers are welcome to join us at a Geordie production of Andersen's Inkwell on Thrusday May 6th at 12pm.  The play is recommended for kids ages 6 and up.

"Discover the world of Hans Christian Andersen, one of the fathers of fairy-tale and creator of some of your favourite immortal stories in Geordie’s magical new production. With bits and pieces from Andersen’s famous and lesser known stories brilliantly woven together, this new play by contemporary Canadian playwright, Gina Wilkinson, celebrates a writer whose fanciful storytelling gave life and a voice to anything from flowers to storks to houses."

The Onion: More parents opting to have children school-homed

The Onion is a news satire organization - don't take this article seriously!  Find the article here.

"These teachers are dealing with upwards of 40 students in their classrooms at a time, so obviously they know a lot more about children than someone like me, who only has one son and doesn't know where he is half the time anyway."

Easter party moved to the park

04/02/2010 - 10:00
04/02/2010 - 15:00

We just learned that the building will be closed on Friday (Good Friday), so we'll move the party to the park outside.  The weather is supposed to be great, and we were going to be outside for the afternoon anyways : )

Changes:

The party will start at 12pm instead of 10am, with a potluck lunch in the park facing Centre Communidée's building (CRCS St-Zotique) - see map here.  Bring a blanket or sheet for sitting on, there are benches but no picnic tables.  We will set up somewhere north of the swimming pool - it's not so big that we'll be hard to spot.  We will probably stay a bit later, like until 4 or 5pm.

We will skip the egg-painting altogether and have a treasure hunt and a few games after lunch.

And because we aren't paying rent for that day, we won't charge the daily fee of $10 per family.  So it's FREE : )
